Oh! What’s Occurring?!
Well, I can tell you what’s not occurring; Haircuts. That is, at least for now. Luckily, we have three boys at home so I don’t get skill fade!
So what has been going on? Well, let’s discuss the elephant in the room, which everyone seems to be tiptoeing around.
”Have you seen the new barber shop in your old shop?”
Well, I’d have to blind to not see it, given the fact that is has big tacky golden letters on the front, neon lights inside and pictures of haircuts they didn’t do in the window.
But that’s their standard operating procedure, I’m really not that worried. The trouble is, the Turkish barber shops have become a bit of a plague on the industry.
Whatever, competition keeps business healthy, and it’ll be interesting to see what happens.
But, know this; For anyone that does want to use them, all is not lost. I will offer free haircut repairs for any that don’t come out as expected.
So what else is happening?
Well, I’ve been doing a few little bits and pieces in the shop, painting etc, but the biggest change that you’ll notice is that I have done away with the waiting chairs and replaced them with a completely cleanable bench seat. The reason for this was three fold. 1. it gives us that little bit more floor space again and
2.anti Bec wipes can be used without it damaging the material
3. it just looks better.
This week I shall be adding a flash of colour to the shop too, which I think will help it feel a bit fresher.
Aside from renovations etc, many of you know that I’m somewhat of a hobbyist blacksmith. And when this Lockdown was bought in, I joked that I was going to be a full time blacksmith. Well, that kind of happened, and I kind of accidentally got half decent at it.
i’ve started to make things, just small things really, but they’re pretty cool and I have set up an Etsy shop, “Castleforge”.

Other than that, we’re still knocking about like the rest of the country, hoping that we’ll be open soon.
Don’t forget, Bozza is going to be laying out his road map back to opening in the next few days, so as soon as we start hearing opening dates the booking system will be going live again so be sure to get booked in early Where possible.
As it stands though, please refrain from trying book anything before an announcement, as they will be automatically cancelled.
Well I suppose I have kept you all for long enough, so I shall sign off for now. I just wanted to let you all know that even though we’re closed, things are still happening, we’re still here and we’re itching to get back to cutting.
